The Mercedes-Benz W154 was a Grand Prix racing car designed by Rudolf Uhlenhaut. The W154 competed in the 1938 and 1939 Grand Prix seasons and was used by Rudolf Caracciola to win the 1938 European Championship.

The W154 was created as a result of a rule change by the sports governing body AIACR, which required supercharged engine capacities to be limited to 3000cc. Mercedes' previous car, the W125 used a 5700cc engine and was therefore ineligible to be entered. Mercedes decided that a new car, designed from the outset to comply with the new regulations would be preferable to modifying the existing car and thus designed the W154.

Only 3 cars could be entered for the championship races and the fourth T car was tested by Richard (Dick) Seaman. His tests lead to many improvements which are regarded as being responsible for the success of the W154.

In this vehicle the drivers Caracciola, Lang, von Brauchitsch and Seaman of the Daimler-Benz team gained one victory after the other. In 1938 Caracciola became European Champion. At the French Grand Prix on the 3rd of July, 1938, Mercedes-Benz gained a triple victory: von Brauchitsch came in first, Caracciola second and Hermann Lang third. In 1939 Hermann Lang became European Champion with the further developed W 154.

This 1:18 model of the Mercedes W154 is highly detailed and a stunning example of CMC's artistry. Only 1,540 units were released worldwide all selling whilst on pre-sale from CMC. A very limited number are now available from meandmycar.
