The LA STORIA series, is a complete history of the Ferrari Formula One cars since 1948, featuring in all a total of 56 models. All the models are produced from new tools by IXO who have applied their expertise to make these Ferrari models the most precise and accurate. Extensive use of photo etching, micro-moulding techniques and hand finished decoration has brought a new standard to these 1/43rd die-cast models. Each model is presented in an exclusive and luxurious Ferrari branded packaging in the shape of a book, adding to the collectibility of the series. The models are without the driver figure, allowing a better reproduction of the interior (seat, seat belts, steering wheel, etc.). A small booklet is also included which tells the complete story of the model.

The D50 celebrates Fangio's win at the 1956 German GP held at the Nurburgring. Mercedes had withdrawn, enabling Fangio to join the Ferrari team, which had been given the Lancia D50 cars when the Lancia team withdrew for financial reasons. The main challenge to Fangio came from Moss at Maserati, and from his team mate Collins, although the British Connaughts, Vanwalls and BRMs showed some signs of promise.
