This amazing image of the 1938 Auto Union D Type was taken during a rare outing for this unique car and is available as print.

The Auto Union D Type featured a V12 engine which could rev at 10,000 rpm but usually never exceeded 7,000 rpm whilst racing. Following the death the previous year of Bernd Rosemeyer, the car was driven by Hans Stuck and Nuvolari, achieving victory in the Italian Grand Prix and at Donington.
